Youth Ministry Opens Nominations for the 27th National Youth Awards

The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS) officially opened nominations for the 27th National Youth Awards on Wednesday 19th July, 2023 at the Ministry’s Head Office, St. Clair, Port-of-Spain.

Staff Members of the MYDNS gathered for a presentation yesterday titled the “Unveiling and Toast” where this year’s theme and nomination categories were revealed. The presentation was streamed live on the MYDNS social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram. During the presentation the Chair of the National Youth Awards Committee, Ms. Sherry-Ann Ramlal revealed there will be 27 award categories this year.

Also contributing to the presentation was the Vice-Chair of the National Youth Awards Committee, Ms. Sharla Codrington, who announced this year’s theme as “Unleashing Potential – Celebrating Youth Excellence”. Ms. Codrington elaborated on why our youth deserve to be celebrated, stating “We really want to inspire and empower young individuals who have been doing excellent jobs in their different fields”.

In keeping with its mandate to foster youth development in Trinidad and Tobago, the MYDNS annually hosts the National Youth Awards to identify, promote and reward young people for pursuing excellence and contributing to national development.

The MYDNS is inviting the public to nominate suitable persons and groups excelling in various spheres in accordance with this year’s nomination categories. Nomination forms can be completed via www.mydns.gov.tt.

Nominees must be citizens of Trinidad and Tobago and must be between the ages of 10 and 35 years (with the exception of Youth Mentor Award and Corporate Award nominees). Persons who have won a National Youth Award within the last five (5) years (2018-2022) are not eligible for nomination.

The Ministry of Youth Development and National Service remains committed to bringing all stakeholders together to promote youth development and encouraging civic-minded citizens to contribute to National Service across Trinidad and Tobago.
