Eligibility, Rules and Guidelines

Eligibility

  1. Must be a national of Trinidad and Tobago and must provide a valid form of national identification (National Identification Card/Passport/Birth Certificate). Parents/guardians of minors must present a valid form of national identification.
  2. Must be 10 to 35 years old. Must still be 35 years old on the final day of the talent search in August 2024.
  3. No more than four (4) persons in a group.
  4. All individual acts or each individual in a group must have a legitimate bank account. For minors, parents or guardians must have a legitimate bank account.
  5. Individuals, and/or individuals within a group must not be registered with the National Registry of Artists and Cultural Workers.
  6. Individuals or groups who have won any National Senior competition in their respective area of talent are not eligible to audition.
  7. Staff of the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS) are not eligible to audition.

Rules and Guidelines

  1. Performing Acts may include:
  • Singer
    • Lip-syncing is not allowed (Persons registered as singers use instrumental versions only)
  • Dancer
  • Instrumentalist
  • Drama
  • Variety Acts (Monologues, Spoken Word, Plays/Skits, Magic/Illusions, Mime, Stand-up comedy etc.)
  • Unique Talents welcomed
  1. All persons under the age of eighteen (18) require the consent of a parent/guardian and should be accompanied by their parent/guardian at the audition. The parent/ guardian must sign a consent form with a valid form of national identification in the presence of a MYDNS representative at the venue of the audition.
  2. All individuals or groups wishing to audition must register (online or in person). All registered participants must sign the participation contract.
  3. Performances must be no longer than three (3) minutes. Penalties will be applied for exceeding the time limit.
  4. Absolutely no profanity or insensitive subject matters will be permitted. E.g. No obscene language, no racial or derogatory language against any person or religion, gang-inciting references, etc.
  5. Performances with sexually explicit and/or violent and gang-inciting lyrics/acts/movements, suggestions or paraphernalia in whatever form, costumes/outfits will not be permitted for judging.
  6. Performers who are waiting to perform and their entourage must also conduct themselves in accordance with the stipulations at nos. 5 and 6 above and failure to do so will result in being disqualified.
  7. Performers are responsible for their own props and costumes. The MYDNS is not responsible for any associated costs for performances.
  8. Use of unsafe materials, including but not limited to, liquids, smoke, fire etc., will not be allowed on stage.
  9. Possession of weapons of any kind, real or imitation will be taken very seriously and reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police in accordance with the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
  10. Possession of illegal substances will be taken very seriously and will be reported to the Trinidad and Tobago Police in accordance with the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago.
  11. Performers are responsible for providing music for acts that require accompanying music. Tracks must be saved as the performer’s first and last name or group name. Accompanying Music must be in MP3 format on a flash drive or CD.
  12. Performers are solely responsible for complying with the Copyright Laws of Trinidad and Tobago for their individual performances (where applicable).
  13. Auditions are closed to anyone other than the performers auditioning before the judges.
  14. Judges decisions are final.
  15. The MYDNS reserves the right to record and reproduce any performance or part thereof, by any means electronic or otherwise, free of all encumbrances.
  16. The MYDNS reserves the right to reschedule or cancel any audition or the Youth on Stage Competition at any time.
